ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Operations Professional with strong payroll-calculation, reconciliation, variance-analysis, and data-accuracy skills to support end-to-end payroll operations for multiple clients in Tanzania, with the expectation of growing into a role that also supports other African jurisdictions over time. The successful candidate will assist with accurate payroll processing, timely statutory remittances, employee salary payments, and compliance with Tanzanian labor and tax regulations.

The role requires prior experience using an HCMS/HRMS system (mandatory) and a working knowledge of Tanzanian statutory processes. A recognized accounting certification,CPA(T) (issued by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors, NBAA) or ACCA, is mandatory for this role. We're looking for someone eager to expand their scope beyond a single country as they develop in the role. You will report to the Senior Payroll Operations Executive/Senior Global Payroll Operations Manager for the region.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

  • Support full-cycle payroll processing for Payroll Outsourcing, EOR, and SaaS clients in Tanzania.
  • Process salaries, allowances, bonuses, overtime, and deductions accurately.

  • Support timely and accurate payment of employee salaries.

  • Assist with computing, filing, and remitting statutory obligations (PAYE, NSSF, WCF, and other levies) within deadlines.
  • Maintain working relationships with Tanzanian statutory bodies and regulatory authorities.
  • Progressively take on payroll support for other African jurisdictions as capacity and experience grow, receiving structured exposure to additional jurisdictions and progressively taking on defined cross-border payroll support responsibilities.

  • Support payroll reconciliations and variance analysis.

  • Assist with internal and external payroll audits.

  • Ensure payroll data accuracy within HCMS/HRMS platforms.

  • Track regulatory updates and support implementation of compliance changes.

  • Prepare payroll reports and client summaries.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant, CPA(T) (issued by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors, NBAA), or ACCA qualification is mandatory.

  • Minimum of 2-4 years' payroll experience in Tanzania.

  • Willingness and ability to grow into supporting payroll for additional African jurisdictions beyond Tanzania.
  • Experience handling multi-client payroll or payroll outsourcing is an advantage.

  • Mandatory experience using HCMS/HRMS systems.

  • Working knowledge of Tanzanian tax regulations, NSSF processes, and labor laws.

  • Comfort liaising with statutory authorities.

  • Exposure to payroll in more than one country is an advantage.

  • Good Excel skills.

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.

  • Good communication and time management skills.

  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
